No rug may remain in its naturally flat state for very long.

Law of Obedience Resistance
A cat’s resistance varies in proportion to a human’s desire for her to do something.

First Law of Energy Conservation
Cats know that energy can neither be created nor destroyed and will, therefore, use as little energy as possible.

Second Law of Energy Conservation
Cats also know that energy can only be stored by a lot of napping.

Answer: Raiders of the Lost Ark
“Raiders of the Lost Ark”, released in 1981, was the first film in the “Indiana Jones” franchise. Set in 1936, Harrison Ford played Dr. Jones, an archeologist hired to find the Ark of the Covenant before it ended up in the hands of the Nazis. When his love interest Marion Ravenwood says, “You’re not the man I knew ten years ago”, Indiana Jones responds as only Indiana Jones can. “Raiders of the Lost Ark” was a huge commercial and critical success. It was the highest grossing film of 1981, and went on to win 5 Academy Awards.

As it happened each friend bought a different kind of tree and planted the new tree on a different day of the week. From the clues below, determine the full names of each friend, what kind of tree each bought, where in the yard it was planted, and on what day of the week each tree was planted.

Names: Rebbecca, Sally, Tracy, and Wanda

Last Name: Best, Dart, Frost, and Grand

Trees: ash tree, cherry tree, maple tree, and spruce tree

Location: garden, patio, back yard, and front yard

Days of the Week: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday

1. Wanda, whose last name wasn’t Frost, didn’t plant her spruce tree by the patio.
2. Tracy planted her tree before Mrs. Dart but after the woman who planted the ash tree.

Friday’s Quizzler is…….
Diana has been writing poetry for many years and is excited that her first published book of poems will be coming out next year. Her publisher has asked her to write introductions for her poems. 1. “The Tree” was either the earliest poem written or the most recent. The wedding poem was either an ode or a free verse poem. “Dancer” is a haiku but was not written for the contest that took place in the 1990s.
2. “Summer Harvest” was written for a family member. “Queen Anne” was inspired by a television show about British royalty and was not written in free verse.
3. The five poems, in no particular order, are: “Confidential”, the free verse poem written in 1996, the sonnet, the poem written for her sister, and the poem written for her mother.
4. The poem written for a friend’s wedding was written before the sonnet but three years after the haiku.
5. The poem written in 1999 was written for her mother’s funeral. The ode was not written for her sister nor was it inspired by the television show.
