Thursday’s Jokes, Quotes, Quizzlers and Teases!

WELCOME to THURSDAY FEBRUARY 17, 2022

Did You Know?

In a recent poll held in the USA, American men and
women were asked if they would marry the same person if they had it to do all over again. 80% of the men responded that they would marry the same woman.
Interestingly, only 50% of the women responded that they would marry the same man. Oh dear!

Gamophobia is the fear of marriage.

‘When women hold off from marrying men, we call it independence. When men hold
off from marrying women, we call it fear of commitment.’

  • Warren Farrell (American Psychologist)

Men who never get carried away should be.
Malcolm Forbes

The only thing worse than a man you can’t control is a man you can.

An English teacher wrote the words, ‘Woman without her man is nothing’
on the blackboard and asked the students to punctuate so that it made sense.
The boys wrote: ‘Woman, without her man, is nothing.’
The girls wrote: ‘Woman! Without her, man is nothing.’😳

Wednesdays’ Movie Trivia of the day! What movie is this quote from??? “
“You’re late.” “A wizard is never late. Nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to.”

Answer: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring!
In the events leading up to this scene, the Dark Lord Sauron long ago forged a Ring of Power to control all the peoples and creatures of Middle Earth. This ring fell into the hands of Bilbo Baggins (Ian Holm), a Hobbit from The Shire, who later bequeathed the ring to his young nephew Frodo (Elijah Wood). In this scene the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) arrives in The Shire for Bilbo Baggins’ birthday party and Frodo says line one on seeing him arrive in a horse-drawn cart. Gandalf wisely replies with line two. When Gandalf learns the ring is in fact the One Ring of the Dark Lord Sauron, he realizes it must be destroyed by carrying it to Mount Doom, the evil place of its birth, by casting it into the eternal fires that forged it. In the 2002 Academy Awards “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” won four Oscars. It was also nominated in nine other categories, including Best Picture (but lost to “A Beautiful Mind”). All three “The Lord of the Rings” movies (“The Fellowship of the Ring” in 2001, “The Two Towers” in 2002, and “The Return of the King” in 2003) were filmed simultaneously. The back-to-back shoot lasted 274 days. This is a risky way to film a trilogy, but it has the big advantages of having the same actors portray the same characters in all three movies and avoids contract negotiation problems.

“I would have stayed for two thousand.”
“I would have paid four.”

Wednesday’s Quizzler is….
A heron caught a fish in his bill and was carrying it alive back to his nest. Worried about his own life,
the fish was thinking hard to find a way to free himself. Coming up with a bright idea, he then said to the heron, “Birdie, I’ve learned that you’re a smart bird, and I’m dying to know if it’s true. Can you do me a favor before I die? I will ask you one question. If your answer is right, take me to your home and feed your chicks. If it’s wrong, just eat me right now. But if it’s too hard for you to answer, then please set me free. Will you accept the bet?” The heron thought it was a sure win because even if he couldn’t find the answer, he’d just simply say something wrong. Either way the fish would die. So he agreed immediately. The fish then asked a simple question. The heron then realized that he would lose for sure. So he had to drop the smart fish back to the waters, having learned a good lesson.
What was the question that saved the fish’s life?

Answer: The fish simply asked any non-yes/no question he wished. Remember, the fish was carried in the heron’s bill. Whatever answer the bird might give, he would have to open his bill and thus free the fish. You might ask how then did the heron agree to the bet in the first place? He simply nodded his head.

Thursday’s Quizzler is…….
The following are clues that describe words containing an “ant”. The clues do not refer to the words themselves, rather they refer to the word that must be added to the “ant”. For example, “an ant that is waiting for something to happen” would be “expectant” (expect ant). The ant may appear at the beginning or the end of the word. Where it appears is given in the hint should you need it.

  1. This ant will rely on you.
  2. The end of an ant’s trousers.
  3. The first ant.
  4. This will burn an ant severely.
  5. Two ants going to get married in secret.
  6. This ant rides up sloped driveways.
