If you want to see Tom Cruise ride a horse – and who doesn’t? – you could do worse than this romantic adventure film, also starring Nicole Kidman. Which 1992 features the couple as Irish immigrants in search of land in America?
Answer: The correct answer was Far and Away! ‘Far and Away’ is everything you want in an epic romance: sweeping landscapes, dramatic accents, and Tom Cruise charging across open land like he’s trying to conquer the world… or at least Oklahoma. He plays Joseph Donnelly, an Irish tenant farmer who teams up with Nicole Kidman’s Shannon to escape their circumstances and chase the American dream. That dream, by the way, involves the Oklahoma Land Run of 1893. The film was directed by Ron Howard, who decided love stories needed more boxing matches, burning houses, chicken factories, and gunshots. C’est l’amour.
